special 2 day event

Experiential Masterclass Workshops, Artists Sharing, Dialogue, Discussion
in collaboration with Falling Wide

Friday 17th & Saturday 18th June
The Gate, Roath, Cardiff

BREATHING SPACE is a dance-in-health programme that explores the
relationship between artistic practice and well-being.

Helen Poynor & Miranda Tufnell

will examine how we support those with illness and look towards widening our
understanding of the contribution artists can make.

FRIDAY Workshop with Miranda Tufnell:
'Man is most himself when he is at play' - Schiller
We will begin with the sensing body, & explore through moving, writing & making, bringing to the surface stories & metaphors that express the feel & landscape of our lives.

SATURDAY Workshop with Helen Poynor: This will be an introduction to non-stylised movement as a way to deepen awareness & rekindle vitality, through relaxation, movement & creative visualisation. The workshop may include exploration of personal images of being well & unwell.

FRIDAY evening 5.00 - 7.00
(light refreshments provided)
FREE Twilight seminar - Artists and Well Being
Why is arts participation often experienced as profoundly healing?
Does the process of the artist hold keys to our understanding of well-being?

Miranda & Helen will lead this open, informal group discussion to explore thoughts, concerns and questions about creative movement and dance as a way to support those living with illness based on their wealth of experience of working with groups and individuals in a range of settings: from public
projects with arts organisations to private practice to working within the NHS.

Please stay & share your thoughts or join us for this part of the day

Curated by Joe Moran and in partnership with Falling Wide, led by Artistic
